I personally love HEAVY METAL to go with my HEAVY METAL MONSTER battles :)

All Shall Perish - My Retaliation

I also like That dark synth techno style to go with all the lasers and stuff

Perturbator - Future Club

Please, post a song or two of what you think is great sounds to go wit h the noises of war, destruction, death, the sounds of Gauss rifles to the face, some PPCS's to the torso, lasers to the legs and cockpit, LRMS and SRMS in every direction, machine guns being fired, the sounds of servos and mechanical parts moving each part, stomping with massive weight every step, parts exploding, the over heat alarm, Betty's bitchin, power down and power up sounds??

I don't listen to music because the sound effects from MWO provide me with audio cues of what's going on and give me better situational awareness, not to mention I make frequent use of Teamspeak. As much as I would like to listen to music, I don't want to be constantly asking my team mates to repeat what they just said, or miss the fact that an enemy mech is coming around the corner because I can't hear their footfalls.

Half Life 1 & 2 soundtracks
MW3 soundtrack
SiN Episodes soundtrack
Portal soundtrack (* tracks with vocals removed)

All on random in WinAmp at about 6% volume so I can hear the game sounds and TS3.

Please understand, I agree with your post. But I can't resist the temptation to wish I could have: Fighting music from Pirates of the Caribbean - Traveling music from Conan the Barbarian - Shire music from Lord of the rings etc...but then again, you are right (sigh!).

The fast 'Mechs get into fights quickly so I prefer to listen to tracks with a high tempo and a single, happy movement when I'm piloting one - for slower weight classes, something more symphonic and complex works best to get me in the mood for some 'Mech loving. :)
